Alpha Pareto: finding the real efficiency curve.
80/20 is only a useful intuition. Alpha Pareto asks what the real ratio is for this system, this workload and this constraint.
01 — The intuition
Some components matter more than others. Some features carry most of the value. Some model weights, routes or layers may contribute more to a specific task than the rest. Alpha Pareto begins by treating this as a question to measure rather than a slogan to repeat.
02 — Not always 80/20
80/20 90/10 95/5 60/40 no useful concentration
The ratio is not assumed. It is discovered.
03 — The alpha
Alpha is the discovered operating point: the balance between useful retained output and the resources required to produce it.
α* = argmaxα Q(α) / C(α)
Q(α) is useful retained output. C(α) is cost. The goal is not to maximize output alone or minimize cost alone — it is the best tradeoff for the actual system.
